Demo / How to use the Sitelinkx component and plugin:

1. Determine the defaults configuration of Sitelinkx
Component-> Sitelinkx-> ConfigurationSitelinkx Config

  • Link reachability test
    • Enabled
    • Disabled (for small Web hosting packages urgently recommended)
  • Replacement method:
    • Strict: A defined word go only sets a link to the word go
    • Loose: A defined word go sets a link to words containing go , eg going, golf, bingo
  • Choose in which tab the links are opened:
    • In the same window/tab
    • In a new window/tab
  • Choose if you want to disable the backlink function or not. If you don’t donate for Sitelinkx,
    please set a single backlink to http://www.extro-media.de
  • Save your defaults

2. Define the words to be created as links in the texts.
Component -> Sitelinkx -> Sitelinkx Manager

Click New -> it loads the entry screen:

Sitelinkx edit form

  • Enter the Sitelinkx word / words.
  • Determination of the linking words
    • Enter the URL for an external link, or
    • Choose one of your Joomla article’s
  • Enter the link for the word / words.
  • Enter a title for the link (important for search engines).
  • Terminate a start and / or an end date if desired.
  • Determine where this link should be opened.
  • Determine whether the reachability test should be executed or not.
  • Click Save

3. In the overview you can see the links and their properties.

4. Go to the front end (on the site) and search for a text which includes the word / words. Convince yourself of the desired result.

5. The Sitelinkx plugin has now a different behaviour for the 'powered by' notice. This notice
is now only shown when a keyword is actually linked by Sitelinkx. If no keyword is linked or
you use the {sitelinkxoff} functionality, then this notice will not be shown. Additionally, the
corresponding configuration setting was removed from the Sitelinkx Component.

6. Links generated by Sitelinkx can now be styled via the class sitelinkx.

Just add to your template.css (in your templates css directory) the following
code:

.sitelinkx {
/* your style definitions for links generated by sitelinkx */
}

Example : if you want the links generated by Sitelinkx to be green, and the mouseover color
to be red, then you would add:

.sitelinkx {color:green;}
.sitelinkx:hover {color:red;}

Of course you can add your own style definitions matching to your template.

7. If you don't want Sitelinkx to link keywords in a certain article, put the tag {sitelinkxoff}
at the beginning of this article. Sitelinkx then won't replace keywords in this article, and the
'powered by' notice won't be shown. Thanks to Ralph Kampmann for this improvement.
